The following is the fix that works for me.
1. Go to settings-storage and clear cache for each storage device. 2. Delete your profile. 3. Turn off your Xbox and turn back on. 4. Re-download your profile. 5. Clear cache again 6. Start BFBC2 and have fun playing
Adfert was the one who told me this fix when it first happened to me. Next time this happens, I will post a video showing this working. If you have another way to fix this issue please share.

Katnip has been doing this and SO FAR it's worked every time.
1. turn off xbox 2. turn off router 3. turn off modem 4. turn on router and modem and let them cycle to connected status 5. turn xbox back on and it should be working
We've done this probably half a dozen times now and it works every time.

I forgot who mentioned it, it was in a group chat, but I heard if you start another game that connects to live and start battlefield again it will connect. The last 4 times I have done this it has worked. I have Forza Horizon downloaded for example, I'll just get as far as joining a lobby and then I press the menu button and start Battlefield and it connects.
If all else fails.

Katnip and I will try this one. Good suggestion. As evidenced by glitchy knifing and other strange occurrences in BFBC2 I think the netcode leaves a little to be desired. It's the one fatal flaw.

Started to play GTA5 for a 15-30min. Then EA lets me jump on the battlefield.
